Final images

More images

The wall for my background looks plain so, I am going to add images of signs and urban scenes to make the wall look less plain.

New stuff

Last project: images

Since I am recreating a busy Bangkok sidewalk, I need to use a lot of images. Here are some of the images that I will use for my project. I got these images from different sources, including some of the pictures that I took while I was in Bangkok.

So Far...........

My series of 3 project will be based on the concept of "life in bangkok". Most the Bangkok images that I have are from personal photos, books, and newspapers that depict ordinary people. I want the series of three images to show what life is like in Bangkok for the average Thai person. Here is the progress so far on my first image. I still have a lot more to do, and I'm not quite sure if I want to keep the background. The second image will be based on traffic and urban scenes, and I am still working on figuring out what to do with the last image.

Progress

I'm still working Project 6 but, the problem that I'm having is narrowing the images down to 3. I have 6 images that could work but I'm still not sure what combination that I'll use. As soon as I choose which 3 photos work best I'll post my progress. In the meantime, when I wasn't working on project 6, I was finishing up the second version of my playing card. I wanted the second version of my playing card to have a story, and the story that I choose to use is "Queen of Heartbreak".

Project 6: Images

These are the images that I will use for my final project. I am going to use these images to replace objects in three different pictures. What I'm working on now is thinking about three different pictures that relate to the theme of my photos.

Project 6: Intent Statement

For this project, I am going to take everyday objects and make them look different. I will either use photographs and replace the images in the photograph with objects, or I will change how the objects look. All three of the pictures will relate because I want to use the same area for the background. I want this project to look more realistic because, I haven't done a realistic project yet and that is something that I would like to learn before this course is over. I am not sure what background or objects that I am going to use so, I will start taking photographs and use the images that I like the most.

Project 6: Series of 3

A series of 3 (12 x18') designs done on Photoshop, Illustrator, or both. The subject matter is our own choice and it is due on June 2 at the beginning of class.

Project 5: Update 2

Right now I'm working on a playing card based off of the McDonalds characters. I'm done with the characters, and now I have to work on the background. I'm thinking about having food in the background and maybe the McDonalds logo too.

Project 5: Update

Right now I am working on my playing card design. I decided to use a traditional jack in the box joker card design. Instead of having a joker in the box, I want to replace the joker with a different figure. I'm not sure what figure I want to use yet so, I am working on the box and the background. I'll try to put up a post as soon as I'm done.

Project:5

Our next project is to design fictitious playing cards 12x16' in Illustrator. This project will be a lot more challenging because I am not familiar with Illustrator and, the characters used have to be fictitious. I originally wanted to have a political or historic themed playing card using photographs. Intricate designs are probably not appropriate for this project so, I have to draw up some thumbnails of possible playing cards.

Project 4: Finished version

Brittni is a Gemini and she likes 1920's fashion and dancing, I made the Gemini constellations flapper girls. Goofy is the best word that describes Brittni and she likes zebras so, I decided to added a goofy image of a zebra. The zebra is wearing a coral color dress because Brittni likes fashion and coral is her most favorite color.

Dr. Robinson

Project 3: Progress

I wanted to use prof. Kengla as my reference but, unfortunately that didn't work out. I originally planned to exaggerate his facial features and have him surrounded by the kids that he works with. In the end I could not do much with the project because I only had close up photos of the kids sitting down. Once I started to cut and paste the images, the project started to look more like a collage, and that's not what I wanted. I decided to instead start another project with a different professor.

Artist Portrait: Final Draft

The images that I placed in the background are biographical and cultural. I decided to add a warmer orange tone as the background because, my parents have old postcards that are the same color. I used text from I poem that I like, and I replaced the cloth with imagery that matches the poem. I altered the colors of the same photo 3 times and then I overlapped the merged photos with another image of a storm. Finally, I added dragonflies to balance out the empty space.

Thumbnail Sketch

This a thumbnail sketch of how I would like my project to turn out. The squares on the shawl will be made up of cultural and biographical images. I plan on twisting the images on the shawl so that the images could match the movement of the fabric. For the background, I will add the text of a short poem. Since the poem includes natural elements like "springtime" and "storms", I plan on layering the background with different images of nature.
